Okay, it may be the fact that we’ve been pushing for the last week to get the next revision out the door or the fact that it’s Friday and I’m feeling a bit punchy, but the Tapeler fixed my Balrog. So right about now you’re probably asking yourself what’s a Tapeler and how did it fix your Balrog.
A tapeler is an ingenious device I re-invented where you fuse a stapler and a tape dispenser. Behold the Tapeler! It tapeles your paper or any other thin material. It’s the best of both worlds, you get tape and a staple reassuring the adhesiveness of your project.
Next, I received a cool die cast Balrog statue that lights up and everything for my birthday from my dear old dad. Unfortunately the left wing was severed. In a code drenched daze I had the epiphany that if I wound *enough* tape around the wing it would hold. I’m a big fan of the duct tape theory so this makes perfect sense in my world. Thus you know the rest of the story of how the Tapeler fixed my Balrog…well almost. Happy Friday everyone!
Wow, I’ve been so busy lately with new clients that I’ve neglected the Half Nutlog a bit.
Reading Authentic Boredom today I saw an article about how Intel has declared Fridays as zero email days.
What a concept, I’m very interested to see how it works out. What’s more is to see how their customers respond. It’s one thing not to answer internal email, but what about correspondence from their customers. I’m wondering if they’ll be training their customers to phone in their questions that day or just how this will be handled.
My personal solution is to do a triage of the messages as they come in unless I’m completely involved in a task (coding, designing, etc) . If it’s something I can quickly answer I’ll do it. If not I put it off until later in the evening.
I was just excited because I just found a clip on YouTube of my cousin
Mike Aitken at the Mountain Dew Tour. We just recently had a family reunion and it was the first time I was able to see him live. It was pretty impressive and I can see why so many fans turn out to watch these guys jump. Mike took third place in the BMX dirt finals.
Every composer knows the anguish and despair occasioned by forgetting ideas which one had no time to write down. — Hector Berlioz
I don’t know how many times I’ve been waking up in the morning, driving home from work or otherwise disposed when I’ve had what I thought was a ground breaking idea. We’ve all been through this before, whether we had a great idea to help Dan Rather with his newscasts or a new way to produce ice in Alaska, we’ve all kicked ourselves for not remembering something we thought was a great idea.
To combat this I’ve started keeping a notepad by the side of my bed to write down any idea I may have.
